About the Artist

About the Creator

Hey, I’m Arthur Joseph Latter – a comic book artist, storyteller, and the creator behind Dome 47.

Ever since I was young, I’ve been captivated by stories that transport you to other worlds while making you think deeply about our own. Growing up, art wasn’t just a hobby for me – it was my escape. I wasn’t the best in school, and sometimes it felt like I was falling behind while the world moved on without me. Drawing became my refuge, a way to push back against the pressures society puts on you to be perfect or fit into a mold. Art gave me purpose when I didn’t always know where I fit in. It was through drawing that I found my own voice – a voice that didn’t need to be the loudest or the best, just real and honest. Creating stories helped me make sense of my own struggles and reminded me that I could build something meaningful, even when I doubted myself.

Why I Created “Dome 47

Dome 47 started as a simple idea but quickly grew into something much bigger. It’s not just a story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world; it’s a story of hope, resilience, and the power of change. Anya and her brother Mathew fight not only against physical threats but against the deep-rooted fear that nothing can change – a feeling I’ve faced countless times. Through Anya’s journey, I want to remind people that even when the world seems broken, there’s always a way to rise and make a difference. I’m not the best artist, and I’m not the best writer, but I believe I’m good enough to tell this story. I’ve poured so much of myself into Dome 47 – countless hours, effort, stress, and heart. This project gives me hope and meaning, and even if it doesn’t become something bigger than it is right now, I know I’ve created something true to who I am.

Why This Story Matters Now

We’re living in a time of uncertainty, where it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. The world seems more divided and chaotic than ever. I believe that stories have the power to inspire us to see beyond the darkness and find our own strength. In Dome 47, Anya doesn’t just survive; she dares to hope and fight for a better future. That message feels more important now than ever. Creating this comic has been a journey of self-discovery, and it’s my way of sharing a piece of my heart with anyone who needs a spark of hope. Whether or not it becomes something big, I know I’ve created something that matters to me. I just hope it can inspire others the way it has inspired me. Thank you for supporting my dream and for being part of this story. Whether you’re here to read the comic, support the project, or simply connect, I’m grateful for your presence

Acknowledgments

Creating this comic has been an incredible journey, and I couldn’t have done it without the support and input of some amazing people. Justin Semthiti, Victoria Litton, and Ryan Hao – thank you for your invaluable feedback and ideas. Your insights helped shape this story into something far greater than I could have imagined on my own. To my family and friends – thank you for your support, even when you didn’t fully understand or believe in this project. You may have wished for me to follow a more “normal” path, but your encouragement gave me the drive to carve out my own. This comic is as much a part of you as it is me. Thank you for being part of the journey.

I want to take a moment to recognize my old mentor, Edgard Guevara, who inspired me to create this comic. Edgard was my teacher in the Philippines, a former Swiss banker who, after achieving financial success, chose to walk away from a life of convenience to pursue something far more meaningful. He moved back to the Philippines to cultivate a health food farm, focusing on growing spirulina—a super algae—and producing health syrups made primarily from lemongrass. His story struck a deep chord in me. He left behind comfort and stability to embrace a harder, more uncertain life, driven by the desire to make a difference in the world. He sought to empower people with knowledge about health and to challenge the existing power structures in his own unique way. When his grandmother passed away, I stayed with him at his childhood home in an impoverished area. Those four days were a profoundly humbling experience. His family didn’t have running water, relying instead on a pump to draw it from the ground. There was no proper toilet, only a hole you had to squat over. About seven people shared a single mattress, and I slept on a wooden panel with just a blanket. That experience changed me. It opened my eyes to the privileges I had taken for granted and deepened my understanding of the struggles many people endure daily. It’s a memory that has stayed with me, shaping my perspective and fueling my desire to create this comic. This project is my way of contributing to change, of bringing awareness to the flaws in our systems and challenging the status quo. History has shown us time and again that revolutions and power shifts happen when people are no longer willing to tolerate oppressive circumstances. In America, many can live comfortably as long as they comply with the system and keep their heads down. But that same system—like most empires—has fundamental flaws: the use of propaganda, fear tactics, and poverty as tools to maintain control. Edgard taught me that true change requires courage, sacrifice, and an unyielding commitment to doing what’s right, even when it’s inconvenient. His dedication to creating a better world through person-to-person impact is something I strive to emulate in my own way. I aspire to be like people like Edgard, who inspire change even in the face of hardship. Though I may not fully live that way, the art and energy behind this comic are fueled by that same spirit. This project is my best attempt to reflect their courage and determination, and to carry that energy into my own life and work. To Edgard Guevara, and to all those who refuse to settle for convenience and instead choose to fight for meaningful change, thank you.
